Recently, I returned from Patna to Ranchi after attending a
delightful family gathering—a traditional ritual ceremony held in honor of
Advit Raj, the grandchild of my elder brother. Though intimate, the event was
filled with joy, laughter, and heartfelt moments. What made it particularly
memorable was reconnecting with my old school friends. Our conversations
rekindled warm memories and transported me back to the carefree days of our
youth.
However, Patna’s weather was far from forgiving. The city
was gripped by an intense heatwave, with temperatures soaring around 40°C and a
humidity level that made the very air feel dense. Just stepping outside was a
challenge. Most of my time was spent indoors, finding solace in cooler spaces
and counting down the days until my scheduled return.
The Escape Begins
When the day of departure finally arrived, it brought with it an undeniable
sense of relief. I boarded the train, found my seat in the cool comfort of an
AC coach, and let the rhythmic motion lull me to sleep after a simple dinner.
What I didn’t expect was the transformation that awaited me the next morning.
Morning Bliss: Jharkhand Awaits
As dawn broke, I opened my eyes to a different world—lush greenery, gentle
rain, and fresh air swirling through the slightly open window. The landscape
outside was like a moving painting: rain-washed trees, mist-cloaked fields, and
streams snaking through the countryside. The oppressive heat of Patna felt like
a distant memory. Inspired by the view, I reached for my mobile camera and
began filming, hoping to capture this serene transition from one world to
another.
Back in Ranchi now, the rain continues to fall softly,
keeping the temperature at a refreshing 23°C. At times, there’s even a mild
chill in the air—a welcome change from the previous day’s swelter. This journey
reminded me just how dramatic and therapeutic India’s regional weather
contrasts can be.
Why Train Travel Still Wins Hearts
Train journeys, I believe, have a soul of their own. There’s space to stretch,
walk, read, reflect, or simply stare out at the ever-changing scenery. Unlike
road or air travel, there’s a certain rhythm and peace that only a train ride
offers. It’s no wonder many still prefer trains for long-distance journeys—not
just for convenience and cost, but for the experience itself.
India’s Scenic Wonders on Rails
Speaking of experiences, India’s Vista Dome coaches have redefined
scenic rail travel. With their wide glass windows, panoramic roofs, LCD
displays, and luxurious seating, these trains turn travel into a spectacle.
Routes like the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway, Kalka–Shimla, Mumbai–Goa, Araku
Valley, and the Kangra Valley offer postcard-perfect views and unforgettable
moments.
Trains like the Bengaluru–Karwar Vista Dome have become so
popular that getting a Tatkal ticket is nearly impossible. The demand speaks
for itself—travelers today seek more than a journey; they seek wonder, beauty,
and storytelling through landscapes.
A Vista Dome Dream for Jharkhand
Given the rich natural beauty of Jharkhand—dense forests, meandering rivers,
dramatic hills, and gushing waterfalls—I strongly feel the time is ripe for the
Indian Railways to consider introducing Vista Dome coaches in this region.
Jharkhand’s terrain is just as mesmerizing as the famed hill stations. A scenic
rail experience here could boost tourism, connect people more intimately with
nature, and offer travelers moments of magic similar to those I recently
experienced.
