Dasam Falls (Ghaagh)
Once
my brother Raj Kumar Karan a retired Police officer along with his family
arrived at my home and stayed here for a week and had grand gala time with us. On
his arrival my deserted house became teeming with activities, funs, jokes and
laughter’s. I use to mention here that whoever friends or relatives come to
Ranchi it’s my duty to entertain and keep
them in good humor, so in this way some outings are made to visit of waterfalls,
dams, jungle which comes under must visit list. So, accordingly a programmed to
visit Dasam falls was set.
Dasam
fall also called (Dasam Ghaagh) in Hindi, is about 40 Kms East of Ranchi on
Ranchi Tata road falls under Bundu Police Station and off highway NH33. This
fall is tributary river of Swarnrekha called Kanchi and its water falls from
144 feet high, about 10 water streams also falling that’s why it is named Dasam
Falls. It is natural cascade across Kanchi River and is the most popular water
fall due to its attractive surrounding of calm and quiet serenity of the jungle
alive with the huge noise of the water falling, attracting the tourists from
far off places, such as West Bengal, Bihar, Odisa and other parts of the
country.
To reach to its landing level one has to get down about 300 steps, but at
the landing the rocks are very slippery so all the tourists are warned as it
had witnessed so many accidents. As the Ranchi is the capital of the state, is
located at the centre of Jharkhand which attracts many travelers. Once I shot
this waterfall in 1986 in Black and white, later I shot this falls three years
back. There are many waterfalls surrounding Ranchi such as :-
1.
Dasam falls,
2.
Hunduru falls,
3.
Jonha falls,
4.
Panchghaag falls,
5.
Sita falls, and
6.
Hirni falls.
Each waterfall has their own beauties,
characters and attractions which entice young couples and tourists for photo
ops and spending some peaceful and adventurous moments.
