Bug
Once I was taking morning
stroll in a very beautiful shaply flowered
garden, suddenly my eyes attracted and stuck up upon a small but very beautiful
and shiny bug. It was very colorful of bottle green and mix of slight violet
luckily I had my camera with 100 mm Macro lens on, so taking the photographs of
small insect was not a problem. As I have great fascination for nature and love
to shoot the moods and nature related pictures so, I was attracted towards the
tiny vibrant color creature and made few frames. Later when I studied about
that bug then I came to know about it, so please find its excerpts.
This bug is commonly
known as Jewel bug or metallic shield bug due to its brilliant colors comes
from Scutelleridae family and also known as shield backed bugs, thrives on
juice of the plants sometimes on commercial crops too. When disturbed they
emanate very offensive odor to ward off the predators, so it is also called
stinking bugs. It is small oval shaped bug with size of 5 to 20 mm also help in
pollinations of the flowers or plants and comes under rare species. Sometimes it
is dangerous due to its destructive nature.
Mostly it is find South
East side of England, just for defensive purpose Jewel bugs sometimes mimic its
color patterns and in day time it can be found on trees. With its vivid colors,
metallic sheen jewel bugs are striking insects possesses large well developed
eyes, they changes their pattern for difference purpose such as finding mates
and host plants. As long as its elytra are intact the jewel bugs can fly on their
wings. It is found that due to its high refelectiveness of the beetle
exoskeleton it looks golden. So, it also a nice gift of nature to sooth to
human eyes.
