Light Trains

Light Trains

                Newcastle
light rail is a major attraction for this placid city which runs from Newcastle
Interchange in Wickham to Newcastle beach in the east end of Newcastle. It is a
great way to explore Newcastle’s city centre with six convenient stops.

 1. Newcastle
Interchange

 2. Honeysuckle

 3. Civic

 4. Crown Street

5. Queen Warf and the last one is

6.  Newcastle Beach. It is recently built light
rail between Newcastle Interchange and Newcastle Beach. It construction started
after the closure of heavy rail route between the Wickham and Newcastle station
in 2014 which took about 1.5 years in completing it and credited the second
light rail line after Sydney.

                This
battery operated train route runs through Central Business District popularly
called (CBD) area which is a
business hub of Newcastle on Hunter Street without any overhead wires. It runs
from George Street in the west to Macquarie Street in the east. The street was
originally named Bell Street later it is named after Governor Hunter, the second
Governor of New South Wales. There are many things named after Hunter such as
Hunter Street, Hunter hospital, Hunter valley which is very calm and quiet
place with many vineyard and cultivation of grapes spread over vast area is
about 60 kms away from Newcastle etc. Once I had the opportunity to visit the
Hunter valley courtesy Sunny.

                Hunter
Street is a major road in the Newcastle Central Business district in South
Wales. This street formerly had three separate thoroughfares extends from
Pacific Street in the city’s east to Selma Street in Newcastle West and  it is focused on community led creative
activities. There are shopping Malls, retailer’s shops, eateries joints,
amusement parks with always bubbling with activities. Newcastle University and
Central Library are also there on Hunter Street. One just has to cross the
street and enjoy the activities on the sea beach which is just stone throw
away.

                The
largest shopping and entertainment mall is Charlestown Square in this Hunter
region with over 240 specialty stores including Apple, City Beach, Rebel port,
Strike Bowling Bar etc. Charlestown Square has something for everyone.
