Mango the King

Mango the King

                        When
I was in school during summer the class were conducted to ½ half time from 6:30
to 12 O clock and while returning home from school there were many mangoes
trees full of fruits, so being a child I and my other friends couldn’t hold our
temptation use to throw stones on the tree just to get the taste of luscious
fruits but when someone chases we just flew away. So childhood blues are still
hammering into my mind. I think most of us had faced and enjoyed that situation
in our childhood especially who came from humble background. As I grew up and
have family and due to some compulsion I went to live in a place near Digha,
Patna, where lot of mangoes orchards were existing and I was living in between
them. That area was famous for growing up (cultivation) of very luscious and
delicious mangoes called Dudhiya Malda or Langra which is still one of the best
verities of mangoes with mix of green and yellow color and with thin peel and
very sweet and delicious pulp to eat. It is grown in Patna, Bhagalpur,
Sahibganj, West Bengal and some parts of Bangladesh where it is considered as
National fruit.

            Among all
the mangoes Alphanso is called the king of mangoes which are grown in Konkan
areas of Maharastra state is very sweet and are of premium quality product.
Same as Kesar Bhog is considered as the ‘Queen’ of the mangoes which are grown
in Junagarh area of Gujrat. In Northern India Malda, Dushree,Jardaloo, Gulab
Khaas and Chausa are liked but in Southern states Totapari, Alphanso, Mallicka,
Baiganpalli, Neelam and Imampasand are relished. Cultivation of mangoes are not
tough or complicated, just sow its seed anywhere and in few days or months it
will germ out and after 3 to 4 years it will start yielding fruits specially
from Amrapali varities.

Some of the costly mangoes:-

1.
Alphanso,
it is grown in Konkon area of Maharastra state and considered costliest.

2.
Singhari
– it is grown in Sindh area of Pakistan and some parts of India and is very
costly due to its rich sweetness and taste are also liked in ind.

There are also many bi
products of mangoes especially during summer such as its Chutney, Aam gura,
Panna when gulped during summer will save a person from heat stroke, candies
(Aachaar) and Murabbas etc. People use to eat mangoes by cutting into pieces or
just suck it. Mangoes are very useful either it is raw or ripe. But contain
much sugar, it is not good for diabetese patient.
