Phulwaria Dam, Rajauli

 

            A very beautiful and attractive water
dam is situated just off the Rajauli Nawada NH 20,, it came into inception in
1985 constructing across Tilaya river and village Phulwaria under Rajauli block
of Nawada district in Bihar with the length of 1135 meters and hight of 25.13
meters. This area has Hindu significance Saints such as Rishi Durvasa,Gautama
and Lomasa have their Ashrams in the jungle of Rajauli and there are some peaks
in the name of those Saints. Rajauli is also famous for Gautam Buddha wild life
sanctuary  

 

            Due to its captivating
beauty and conjecture of pleasant natural scenario this dam is surrounded by
hills from all sides is also called Meghalaya of Bihar and attracts tourists
from faraway places, who enjoy the exciting boating into the dam. The Bihar
government is supposed to develop this dam as a tourists spot. Its construction
begins in 1979 and completed in 1985, this dam is consists of many islands
which are surrounded by water from all sides is the main attraction for the
picnickers.

 

            While this
dam was constructing a village named Chiralia  came under this project, and the entire
village submerged into it, so the Bihar government shifted all the villagers to
nearby Hardiya village in the Rajauli block of Nawada district. Tombs of a
mosque are seen emerging from the water is also a site of attraction and
discussion. Some says that mosque was built in early 20th century;
some says its name is Noori Mosque.

 

            Villagers
who are settled there the main source of commutations are boats to carry their
house hold chores from the markets and from other villages. Village women can
be seen plying boats in the dam in groups. Villagers use to relish freshly caught
fishes with locale tinge, which they use to catch from the dam and it is also
great treat for the tourists.

 

To reach the dam many transports are
available as it is on main Ranchi Patna highway NH 20, about 40 Kms from
Koderma and 30 Kms from Nawada. It is suggested that it is a must visiting site
surrounded by the green hills all over and very salubrious place.
