The Jugglers

The Jugglers

While in Australia one day a
programmed was set to see a hilly place Kutumba, about 150 Kms, about three hr
drives from Sydney, which comes under Adelaide in South Australia and is famous
for handicraft and ethical trade where one can find plethora of unique
collection of locally made handcrafted items.

                        As soon as we reached
there we hit the inclement weather causing low visibility, whatever I saw is
the place is surrounded by very beautiful and colorful flowers. In fact we had
gone there to see the blue mountain but we were not so lucky on that note. Seeing
the condition of the weather so it was decided to move around city in the car
and that idea worked well. Its ups and downs roads and lanes adding extra
dimensions to the place. The day we reached was the day of locale market and the
place was buzzing with people all around, where fresh vegetables to other
attractive handcrafted items were on sale in the makeshift canopy like shops as
we see the weekly markets in our place here.

                        While
moving around I came across two young ladies jugglers who were performing and
showing there acrobatic skills. Just by the curiosity I stopped there and became
watching their performance and on my request they readily agreed and showed me
some of their performance which I captured in my camera profoundly thanking
them. History of jugglers is more than 100 years old in 19th century,
around 1863, when Indian jugglers, acrobats and talented magicians but
illiterate as they did not know English were brought in Australia to perform
and the term juggler become synonymous with Indian magic. Their plight was
recounted by former diplomat John Zubrzydki. It was like Gold rush when many
Indian performers were vying those days for Australia, which has been
witnessing growth in population.
