Kanya Pujan – A Celebration of Shakti

Kanya Pujan – A Celebration of Shakti

This Navratri, I was blessed to witness a beautiful tradition at my neighbor’s home – Kanya Pujan. On the sacred Navmi, nine young girls symbolizing the nine divine forms of Maa Durga were welcomed, honored, and worshipped with rituals full of devotion and love. 🌸

As per age-old customs, their feet were washed with reverence, Tilak applied, Chunari offered, and they were served a traditional meal of Halwa, Puri, and Chana, followed by gifts and blessings. 🙏 These little girls, considered embodiments of Shakti, remind us of the power and purity vested in the feminine spirit.

cross India, this ritual is observed in unique ways—whether it’s the grand Kumari Puja in West Bengal at Belur Math or the intimate household pujas in North India and Uttarakhand, each celebration reflects the same belief: honoring the divine feminine energy that sustains and protects the world. 🌺

Navratri is not just about fasting and rituals, but about recognizing and celebrating the strength, grace, and divinity within every girl child. 💫
