Chhinmastika temple, Rajrappa
About 70 Kms
North of Ranchi, Chhinmastika (a Hindu deity) temple is situated on the confluence
of Damodar and Bhairvi River which flows through circuitry hilly terrain and
turned into a waterfall at the end. The place is called Rajrappa which comes
under the Chitarpur CD block. It is a Hindu pilgrimage centre which fetches
many devotees regularly 24×7 from Jharkhand, Bihar,Odisha and West Bengal, due
to its importance as the Goddess Chhinmastika is a headless deity, who stands
on the body or Kamdev and Rati in a lotus bed.
As the
folklore says that the Goddess Chhinmastika instead of drinking the bloods of
her victims she cut her own head and held her in her hand and drank her own
blood. So that is the importance of the temple and worth visiting. Rajrappa is
one of the Aadi shaktisthals where Shiva 1st wife Sati’s severed
head fell down; there are four another shaktipeethas (Bimla, Tara and Tarini).
In this way Dakshin Kalika and Kamakhya where Sati’s main four limbs fell. It
is said that Chhinmastika Goddess dance is a captivated and multifaceted image.
And during dance Goddess accidently stand on the body of Kamdeva (the God of
love) and Rati his consort locked in embrace. Somebody’s interpretations are
those are Radha and Krishna. As per Hindu mythology Chhinmastika means headless
is also called Maa Matapurni. Chhinmastika temple also has found place in Vedas
and Puranas and the place is recognized as an ancient and strong Shaktipeetha.
During full and new moon there is great congregation of the Hindu devotees. As
this strong shaktipeetha is of Chhinmastika Deity, so lot of marriages is
solamanazied and sacrifices of goats take place, as per Hindu belief.
Also there
is lot of temples of different deities as well as Sun temple too beside rest
houses and water pond enhance the temple into more captivating look.
How to reach—

From
Ranchi this religious temple is about 70 Kms and almost two hour drive which
fall in Ramgarh district of Jharkhand.

Airport Ranchi 78 Kms,

Near
Railway station Ramgarh Cantt, 28 Kms
4.
To
reach there get down near Ramgarh bus stand and take a jeep or trekker which
run since morning to evening Or with another route via Sikidri and Gola also
can be reached there from Ranchi.
5.
There is lot of guest houses, hotels;
accommodations in wide ranges are available at Rajrappa, in Ramgarh which is
about 28 Kms from Rajrappa and in Ranchi too.
