Manersharif
While
on assignment in Bihar I was going to Arrah from Patna and in this way I was
crossing Maner which is about 25 Kms west of Patna on NH 933, there is a
nondescript Quila(Tomb) of Sah Maqdum Sah which was built in 1619 is called Maner Sharif which
is a block of Patna. So I turned my
vehicle towards Maner Quila. During ancient period Patna known as Hastinapurn then after that Patliputra and again after
that it is called Patna. It is to be mentioned here that Maner as it is called
is also famous a very popular sweet Laddoos.
A
huge pond adores the Maner sharif Quila just before it and the people of nearby
use it for their daily chores; it is also beneficial for the training of swimmers
and training centre for the cadets in rescue operations during any disaster
such as flood and other water related accidents. It has two Muslims tombs
popularly known as Bari Dargah is of Sufi saint Makhdoom Yaha Maneri and the other one is of Makhdum Shah Daulat who
died in 1616 called Choti Dargah, was built by Ibrahim Khan in 1619.
These tombs are less visited place only those who have some interest in
history use to visit it often. But about 61 years back in 1963 it came into
huge lime light when a very popular and blockbuster Bhojpuri film “Laagi Nahi
Chute Ram’s” hit the silver screen and its song ‘Lal Lal Hotwa se Barse Laliya
ho ’ was shot in the backdrop of Maner Quila, starring Kumkum, Aseem Kumar,
sung by Lata Mangeskar and Talaat Mahmood and the music composer was Chitragupta, lyricist Mazrooh Sultanpuri. This was the 3rd
Bhojpuri film after after “Ganga Maiya Tohe Piyari Chadai Bo”. This song proved
as great toxicant and created much euphoria among the youngsters who become
sloshed deeply into this song and it was on everybody lips. Same euphoria
generated when another film of Devanand ‘Johny Mera Naam’ was released in November
1970, whose on song ‘O O Mere Raja’ was filmed at the backdrop of Rajgir and
Nalanda ruins.
