Agriculture of Bihar

            Due to its
abundance availability of ground and surface water the region of Bihar has got
rich agricultural and alluvial land which produces rich agriculture products.
The main agriculture crops are rice paddy, wheat, jute, maize, and oil seeds. Also
some of the vegetable products are Cauliflower, cabbage, tomatoes, radish,
carrot, beats etc. This sector itself gives more than 70% employment. With The
vision of state agriculture policy to produce of maximum agriculture products
to come up to the national average. Opening of new markets has necessitated
increased production which is guiding force of competitive markets.

            In Bihar the
major rice produced are Sona, Masoori, Basmati and Swarna due to it alluvial
soil and favorable climate. Some of the pulses produced are Arhar, Urad,Moong,
Gram, Pea, Lentils and Khesari and this state is also produce largest
vegetables such as Potatoes, Egg plants, Onion and Cauliflowers.

            Spiritually
this state is also famous for as Mahatama Budha got attained his enlightenment
in Bodh Gaya so the area is full of Monasteries and at Pawapuri. Jain God
Mahavira also got his Nirvana. Due to its poor farming techniques Bihar lags
behind other state of the country in Agriculture sector. But due to health consciousness
of the people of Bihar the demand of organic agriculture products is
increasing.

            Bihari
kebabs is the most favorable and typical non vegetarian dish in Bihar, this
popular dish is traditionally made from mutton and is eaten with roti, paratha
or boiled rice. The region of Champaran is famous for grilled mutton called
Taash. Champaran mutton is a famous joint in Bihar, and in the Mithila region
is famous for locally produced fishes so Maach, Paan and Makhaan is famous
combination in that region. In fruit culture Bihar’s Muzaffarpur region is also
famous for Lichi very sweet fruit it produces 48% of the totality is also
produces mangos. Pineapples, bananas, guavas. So the Bihar is technically lies
behind but not in its productions.
