Netarhat
Bus Ride – A Journey Through Nature & Camaraderie
The journey
to Netarhat, arranged by the Jharkhand Photographic Association (JPA)
to celebrate World Photography Day, was nothing short of mesmerizing.
As our bus
meandered through the serpentine hilly routes of Latehar district, the scenery
outside was captivating – dense jungles of Sal, Pine, and Mahua trees framed by
deep valleys and vibrant landscapes. Tribal melodies played softly in the
background, adding an earthy charm to the ride.
Inside the
bus, the atmosphere was just as lively. Fellow photographers engaged in
friendly chatter, shared jokes, and even sang melodious tunes. Some tapped
rhythms on makeshift instruments, while a few couldn’t resist dancing in the
aisle, turning the ride into a festive prelude to our photographic adventure.
A heartfelt
moment came when JPA members served us a delightful roadside breakfast of Dhuska
with crispy, syrup-soaked Jalebis, making the journey even more
memorable. Acts of courtesy, like offering seats to fellow members, highlighted
the spirit of camaraderie.
The
semi-deluxe bus, though non-AC, kept us comfortable as the cool breeze of
Netarhat embraced us. Our skilled driver navigated the challenging, circuitous
roads with expertise, often evoking goosebumps among passengers with his
precision.
On reaching
Netarhat by lunchtime, we were treated to a hearty meal of rice, fish curry,
paneer, and salad—prepared and served with homely warmth. Later, a relaxing
siesta gave way to an evening of introductions, photography talks, and an
awe-inspiring session on Light Painting, setting the tone for the
adventures that awaited us the next day.
