The Universal Language of Music
One Sunday,
while strolling through the lively Sunday Bazaar in Newcastle,
Australia, with my son and grandson, I found myself immersed in the vibrant
energy of the market. The stalls overflowed with fresh, colorful vegetables,
and the air was filled with the aroma of delicious street food. As I captured
the essence of this bustling scene through my camera lens, my attention was
drawn to a group of street musicians playing oversized instruments like
the guitar, saxophone, and more. Their soulful melodies captivated the
crowd, and passersby generously dropped coins and bills into their collection
box.
This moment
took me back to my homeland, where music fills railway stations, bus stands,
and local markets. No matter where you go, the power of music transcends
borders—it draws people in, stirs emotions, and creates a connection
that words often cannot.
Music: A Timeless Force 🎼💫
While not
everyone is musically inclined, soulful melodies have the power to soothe
the soul and capture attention. History has its legends—take Tansen,
the famed musician from Emperor Akbar’s court, whose enchanting voice was said
to melt rocks and summon rain.
Even today, we
witness the rise of street performers who become sensations overnight:
🎤 Ranu Mondal, a woman from Ranaghat railway station in West
Bengal, was discovered singing ‘Ek Pyar Ka Nagma Hai.’ Her song went viral,
catapulting her to fame in 2019.
🎻 Karolina Protsenko, a 15-year-old Ukrainian violinist, started
performing on the streets of Santa Monica and quickly won hearts worldwide.
👨🎤 A blind singer reportedly sang Mohammed Rafi’s
timeless classics while traveling on local trains in Bihar, using his talent to
raise money for underprivileged girls’ weddings.
From the Streets to Stardom 🌟
Modern artists,
too, are carrying forward this tradition. Singers like Maithili Thakur,
Radha Srivastava, and several Indian Idol contestants have performed
both on the streets and at grand concerts, earning widespread recognition. One
remarkable performer, Lipika Samantha, has taken the saxophone to new
heights, captivating audiences across India.
Nostalgia in Every Note 🎵❤️
Even today, golden-era
Bollywood songs from the 1960s and 70s remain timeless:
🎶 Mere Sapno Ki Rani Kab Aayegi Tu
🎶 Roop Tera Mastana
🎶 Ehsaan Tera Hoga Mujh Par
🎶 Badan Pe Sitare Lapete Hue
Legends like Mohammed Rafi, Mukesh, Lata Mangeshkar, and Kishore Kumar
ruled the airwaves back then, just as today’s musicians create melodies that
resonate with new generations.
🎼 Music
is truly universal—uniting people, evoking emotions, and telling stories that
words alone cannot.
